Try kayak.com (they compare different airlines), travelzoo, skyauction, smartertravel.com and bookingbuddy.com . The prices are way down this fall from the summer of 2008. I have seen them as low as $450-550 from LA or SF, they were up to $800-900 this summer. Sign up for travelzoo’s and other site’s weekly specials, and they will sometimes have low rates. Keep your eyes open, and you should find a good deal, as you are going in off-season, and the number of people going there is way down in Sept. You can try putting in a lower bid on priceline, and this time of year, they may accept it.

What has happened so far in Hawaii’s independence movement from the U.S.?

I’m doing an assignment on Hawaii moving towards independence from the U.S., and I’ve tried searching all over for this answer but I can’t find it. I found the site on Blogspot for the independence group (Nation of Hawai’i) but they didn’t seem to give a history of their group’s key historical moments…Could someone please find this out for me? Thanks in advance!

Cruise Holidays 101 : What Hawaii Has To Offer

We look at Hawaii in this installment of our cruise holidays guide…

A wish come true is the only way a great deal of people can describe going on a Hawaiian cruise. There is nothing more exhilarating than traveling the ocean blue in search of the tropical islands of Hawaii and her sister islands. And it’s such a paradise, too! Golden sunsets, sun-drenched sands and palm trees swaying in the warm gentle breeze await all who take a Hawaiian cruise.

For American and Canadian citizens, Hawaii cruises depart from numerous seaports along the west coast of North America. While many ports along the coastline have Hawaiian cruises, Seattle, San Diego, and Vancouver are the prime area’s for departure locations.

Taking around fifteen to eighteen days to complete, Hawaiian cruises usually visit a few islands around Hawaii, as well as Hawaii itself. But you can always pay for a one-way trip to Hawaii on a cruise ship and then fly to your next destination from her international airport.

If you are looking for a longer vacation, most companies can extend the trip to 25-30 days, and perhaps even more. These extended cruises are an excellent choice for those wishing to experience a more intense adventure in Hawaii and also for those who would like the opportunity to spend some time on the other islands of Maui, Lanai, Oahu and Kauai.

Even if you are the more restless type who does not enjoy lazing around in front of a pool simply taking in the sun, Hawaiian cruises can offer on land adventures to satisfy you. Explore the dormant volcanoes in the small Kilauea crater or become more adventurous and find the amazing Mauna Kea. If you don’t fancy the hike you can always do a Circle of Fire tour by helicopter.

And if you want to learn more about Hawaii’s impact on the world, visit her sugar or pineapple plantations. Don’t forget you still have plenty of ocean to explore; from snorkeling to surfing to taking an underwater adventure in a submarine; your Hawaiian cruise can offer a little bit of everything!

Planning A Trip To Hawaii? Make The Most Of It With A Vacation Guide!

Though the state has one of the smallest populations in the United States, Hawaii has seven different islands to explore over a wide region. Therefore, knowing the characteristics of a good Hawaii vacation guide might be something worth learning when preparing to visit America’s Central Pacific tropical paradise. Hawaii is truly a diverse mixture of scenery, and any good guide will have certain attributes which seeks to explain that.

To start with, the best guides tend to treat each island in the chain – and remember, there are at least four worth seeing – as a separate and distinct entity. This is a wise decision, as the four of them also have somewhat different terrains and even cultural outlooks. Oahu, which is home to Honolulu, is the island in which most of the population of the state resides. And it combines a very large city alongside a North Shore surfing atmosphere.

The island of Hawaii – also called The Big Island – enjoys at least three distinct climates. It even has snow, on the peaks of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, and an active volcano. Kauai, the Garden Isle, has some of the rainiest spots on the planet, along with Waimea Canyon, the deepest of its kind in the Pacific region. And Maui combines classic tropical environments with a laid-back way of life.

Because of all this, the top guidebooks will take each place on their own merits, and cover all the things to see and do which make that particular island unique. The best guides also make an effort to impart a little knowledge about the native Hawaiian culture which has made Hawaii what it is. And all of them try to avoid the trap of falling into just being a big discount coupon book, though all will also have some of them within.

If you fancy a venture out on your own, Hawaii car rental services are usually available at the airport, however you can make an advanced booking online or by phone with a local rental company.

So, the characteristics of a good Hawaii vacation guide aren’t hard to recite or pick out in a good guidebook. Each will try to teach a bit about the diverse nature of the islands that make up the state, for starters. And then each will try to immerse the tourist in a bit of the native culture which makes the islands of Hawaii such a treat to visit.

Hawaii vacation packages and vacation guides can easily be booked online. So browse through the web and find one you like. If you are uncomfortable making such a purchase online, many places offer a handy book-by-phone option.
